Manchester is centrally located within the UK and benefits from excellent rail connections from across the country. To support sustainable travel, UK delegates are encouraged to travel to the conference by train. The selected venues for the conference, icebreaker and dinner are all within walking distance of each other but are also accessible by tram, bus and hire bikes. Manchester is ideally located for international delegates, with direct and affordable flights from across Europe and rapid rail access between the airport and city centre.
Getting to the Science and Industry Museum
By Free city centre bus
The museum can be reached via Route 1. The nearest stop is on Lower Byrom Street, just outside of the museum.

By Metrolink (Greater Manchester Tram Network)
The nearest Metrolink stop is Deansgate–Castlefield, which is serviced by all trams except for the Bury to Piccadilly line (yellow).
Deansgate-Castlefield Metrolink stop is 10 minutes’ walk away from the museum. Walk north up Deansgate then turn left down Liverpool Road. The museum is on the right, facing Lower Byrom Street.

By Train
The nearest railway station to the museum is Deansgate, which is 10 minutes’ walk away from the museum.
The museum is 15 minutes’ walk away from Manchester Oxford Road station, 25 minutes’ walk away from Manchester Victoria station, and 30 minutes’ walk away from Manchester Piccadilly station.
You can travel from Manchester Piccadilly station to the museum using the free city centre bus (Route 1).
You can also travel across the city centre between railway stations using Metrolink services.

By Bicycle
You can lock up your bicycle on Lower Byrom Street just outside the main entrance to the Museum.

Please note, the museum does not have parking facilities on site. There are three blue badge parking spaces in front of the museum on Lower Byrom Street, and there are limited council-run pay and display on-street parking spaces on Liverpool Road.
By Plane
Trains run roughly every 20 minutes from Manchester Airport to the main train stations. The closest train station to the Museum is Deansgate.
